GooGooGaJoob

Another idea that has been in my head a long time, and has finally gotten out.  All props to Google image search on what walruses look like.  Reminds me of the old cartooning books that would suggest you create a reference "morgue" of photo clippings.

Once again, I spend more time choosing colors than actually drawing.  Kind of weird.  I wrote that title freehand a few dozen times, chose the best one, and substituted the "Ga" from another one!

World's Lamest Super-Heroes

Years in the making - literally.  What's more important, getting it done or making it as good as possible.  For me, both, apparently.

I learned a lot doing this, including first use of background layers and gradients.  Dedicated to all those old heroes with dumb superpowers, who I loved so much (Legion of Superheroes, cough, cough).

And of course to my cousin Susan, the original inspiration for Capt Coaster...

Concentration

Another old picture.  An ink exercise that turned into a color exercise.

I was completely absorbed in this, and so called it Concentration.  By the end I was having strong emotional reactions to these colors; the story of the picture ended up being the gradual defeat of the green!  I'd like to try it with different color palettes.

Oedipus Rocks!

Starting to re-color some old art.  I have learned to do a few (very) basic things with layers that will let me freshen these up.

This page came out of a discussion about Freud with a psychologist friend.  I never quite understood why Oedipus would just take his fate lying down.  But I guess maybe that's why they call it fate...

Regrets, I've had a few

This is to remind me not to be on FB/Twitter so much.  I am also making a concerted effort to develop my "Plop Take" technique!

I wanted the colors to be simple and drab, also not to spend too much time on them.  I found this "Hospital Green" color on the invaluable www.colourlovers.com/, where it has zero "loves."  I bet if it was called something like "Thin Mint," everybody would love it.
